15 Years of Simple Recruitment

2024 officially marks our 15th anniversary in business! For the past 15 years, we have been finding jobs for people and people for jobs. Since opening our doors back in 2009, we have expanded our branches to cover the Bath, Somerset, and Wiltshire area with great success and have made plenty of memories along the way.

Simple Recruitment was founded to deliver “simple”, trusted, and inexpensive recruitment solutions to local businesses. We aim to provide candidates with reliable, varied, and honest job opportunities that cater to their needs and experiences.

15 years is a monumental achievement for us. So much so, we wanted to make the whole South West of England aware of it! In this special blog post, we’ll take a look at some of Simple Recruitment’s and the world’s most defining moments over the past 15 years.

2009

A year jam-packed with endearing events such as the Miracle on the Hudson was also the year when Simple Recruitment first opened its doors and became Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) members, adhering to their code of conduct. We are still members, 15 years later.

15 years - 2009

2010

Likely best remembered for Spain winning the Fifa World Cup held in South Africa. For Simple, this was the first year we appeared in our local newspaper, the Midsomer Norton Journal as well as beginning our long tradition of ingraining ourselves within our community and sponsoring the Midsomer Norton Lantern Fayre.

15 years - 2010

2011

In a year that saw the royal wedding between Catherine and Prince William, we received our first testimonials from our long-standing client, B&NES, and sponsored both the Bath Night Walk for MacMillan Cancer Support and the Olympic Arts Project.

15 years - 2011

2012

2012 was great for England as London hosted the Olympic Games! For us, 2012 was equally as great as we were nominated for the Bath Life Awards for “Small Business of the Year”. This was the first year where we carried out a fundraiser, gifting Easter Eggs to the Children’s Society. This became a long-standing tradition with the Simple team.

15 years - 2012

2013

In a year that saw Grand Theft Auto 5 released to universal acclaim, we were once again nominated for “Small Business of the Year” at the Bath Business Awards, hosted a seminar at Writhlington School to provide career advice to youngsters, sponsored Midsomer Norton RFC in their first ever season in the Western Counties North, and teamed up with a local college to offer a job shop in Radstock.

15 years - 2013

2014

2014 marked the 100th anniversary of World War I as well as Germany winning the World Cup. Over in Somerset, we supported numerous charities such as the Bristol Children’s Hospital and the RUH Cancer Care Campaign where £1105 was raised after Jayla participated in a triple run challenge across Bath, Chippenham, and Bristol. We sponsored the Midsomer Norton RFC team, the Programme Business Awards Bath, Bath Boules, and the Women in Business Awards. We were very proud to have moved office this year.

15 years - 2014

2015

A historic year that saw the Conservative Party win the General Election. At Simple Recruitment, we continued to show our support for local charities. Jayla ran a triathlon for the RUH Cancer Centre, participated in the Break the Cycle Bike Ride, and donated numerous hampers to the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.

15 years - 2015

2016

This was a big year for politics as England’s voting to leave the EU sparked heated discussion in the West. At Simple, Jayla raised £500 running in the Bath half-marathon for Simple’s chosen charity; Time is Precious.

15 years - 2016

2017

A tough year for many as 2017 unfortunately witnessed the Grenfell fire in Kensington. At Simple Recruitment, we welcomed our future Operations Manager, Mim, and continued our yearly tradition of donating Easter Eggs to the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity. We also introduced Christmas-specific merchandise and supported the Christmas Homeless Project.

15 years - 2017

2018

2018 marked the year when GDPR officially came into effect. At Simple, 2018 was the year we officially received our Gangmasters certificate, supported the Samaritans campaign; Operation Christmas Child, and launched our brand-new office in Bideford! Although our Financial Director, Jason, had been a big support ever since Simple opened its doors, he officially joined the business in 2018.

15 years - 2018

2019

2019 tragically saw the Notre Dame aflame and almost destroyed. Celebrating our 10th year in business, we moved office to our current location on Midsomer Norton High Street. We had a cracking celebration party with plenty of cake, laughs, and even a pool table! On top of the celebration, we launched our Wiltshire office in Trowbridge!

15 years - 2019

2020

Without a doubt, 2020 is widely known for the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping across the world affecting our way of life in almost every way imaginable. During the year, we worked tirelessly to not only adapt to the sudden change but provide key workers to areas of our community that needed them the most. We were a finalist for the Bath Life Awards and were featured in the Bath Life Mag and Business Action Awards.

2020

2021

The pandemic still affected the majority of the year across Europe. Towards the tail-end of it, however, restrictions were lifted shortly after the vaccines arrived. In really difficult times, we tried to assist by launching our Redundancy Support programme and Jayla was shortlisted for Business Leader of the Year at the REC Awards for her hard work.

2021

2022

2022 saw the sudden death of Queen Elizabeth II, mere months after the UK celebrated her Platinum Jubilee. She was the second-longest-reigning monarch in history. At Simple, we donated £750 for the Southside Family Project charity. On top of this, we were also finalists in the Bath Life Awards under the People Services category. We also sponsored a celebrity charity football match in Bideford.

2022

2023

2023 saw major advancements in AI technology with websites such as Chat GBT taking the business world by storm. Throughout the year, we continued our dedication to local charities, raising over £1500 for Coppafeel, nearly £800 for Autism UK, and proudly sponsoring the Outfield Festival.

2023

2024

Finally, we come to our 15th year in business! In celebration of our Crystal Anniversary, we have introduced our temporary logo. It was designed by a student at St Laurence School in Bradford-on-Avon after he won our logo design competition. We now have a dazzling crystal trophy which we’re proudly displaying in our reception area. We recently rewarded the Simpletons with a company day out in Bath (catch the detailed fallout in our blog). 2024 also marks the year that we received our 100th Google Review which we are very proud of.

2024

A Final Thought

Over the past 15 years, we’ve made placements for thousands of happy candidates and made long-lasting relationships with a myriad of local businesses. We will continue our dedication to finding jobs for people and people for jobs. We plan to continue partnering with local businesses and candidates to offer great opportunities that suit all parties.
