Cleansing Operative

The Job:

Our client is seeking a Cleansing Operative to join their team on a temporary basis. The role involves supporting cleansing, grounds maintenance and general environmental services across the local area.

Key responsibilities:

• Emptying street litter bins and collecting litter and debris
• Cleaning public toilets and other public facilities
• Sweeping footpaths and clearing beaches of litter and detritus
• Carrying out grounds maintenance, including grass cutting, strimming and hedge pruning
• Digging, planting, weeding, hoeing and watering
• Using mechanical equipment, plant and vehicles as required
• Supporting cleansing and bin emptying at council events
• Providing a professional, customer-focused service while working safely and following relevant procedures
• Working independently or as part of a team to meet service standards

About you:

• Previous practical cleansing experience is advantageous, such as street cleaning, building cleaning or public convenience cleaning
• Grounds maintenance or horticultural experience is desirable
• Able to read and write and use a smartphone or handheld device for communication and work monitoring
• Reliable, diligent and attentive to detail
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Able to deal professionally and effectively with challenging members of the public
• Safety-conscious and committed to maintaining your own health and the safety of others
• A valid driving licence is essential due to needing to drive within this role
• Must have the right to work in the UK and be able to complete the required checks
