On Monday 6 July 2026, we were proud to work alongside Norton Hill School to deliver its annual Careers Fair. This marks the third consecutive year that we have been invited to collaborate with the school, bringing together local employers, education providers and industry professionals to inspire Year 10 students as they begin thinking about their future careers.
The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect education with industry, giving students access to a wealth of knowledge, experience and advice from professionals across a diverse range of sectors.
Creating Opportunities Through Partnership
At Simple Recruitment, we believe preparing young people for the world of work starts long before they enter it.
Working collaboratively with Norton Hill School allows us to create an event that helps students understand the wide range of opportunities available to them, while strengthening relationships between education and local employers. Together, we’re creating an environment where students can explore career options, ask questions and gain valuable insights from people working in those industries every day.
Why Are Careers Fairs So Important?
For many young people, deciding what comes next after school can feel overwhelming. Careers fairs help make those decisions easier by bringing employers, colleges and universities together in one place.
By speaking directly with professionals, students can:
- Discover careers they may never have considered.
- Learn about apprenticeships, college courses, university pathways and employment opportunities.
- Understand the qualifications, skills and experience employers are looking for.
- Ask questions in an informal and supportive environment.
- Gain confidence speaking with professionals and developing their communication skills.
These conversations help students make informed decisions about their futures while demonstrating that there are many different routes to building a successful career.
Inspiring the Workforce of Tomorrow
The benefits extend beyond the students.
For employers, careers fairs provide an opportunity to engage with future talent, raise awareness of their industry and help shape the workforce of tomorrow. By sharing experiences and career journeys, businesses can inspire the next generation while strengthening connections within their local community.
Events like this also help bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring students gain a clearer understanding of how the skills they develop in school translate into real careers.
A Fantastic Day of Engagement
Despite the summer heat, the enthusiasm throughout the day was incredible.
It was wonderful to see students confidently approaching exhibitors, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine curiosity about different industries. Conversations took place across engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, aviation, technology, construction, local government, higher education and many more sectors, giving students an excellent insight into the breadth of opportunities available.
The energy and engagement from everyone involved demonstrated exactly why events like these are so valuable.
