The Job:
As Sewing Machinist, your role forms an integral part of our production process, ensuring that our products meet our high standards of craftsmanship and quality control.
This role will transform raw materials into finished goods, contributing to the overall production work flow and helping the business to meet customer demands and deadlines.
Key responsibilities:
- Working with a variety of materials, accurately measure, cut and prepare textiles according to plan.
- Working to precise product specifications, construct products using cut parts, Velcro, zips, irons and pressing machines.
- Feed fabric sections through various industrial sewing machines.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards before packing items.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to meet deadlines and production targets.
- Understand and follow all the objectives, standards, policies and procedures outlined by the department manager.
- Maintain excellent customer service levels around external and internal customer requirements.
- Monitor fabric or material stock levels and report when additional materials are needed.
- Ensure that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order, with an understanding of basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Report any accidents, equipment malfunction, maintenance faults, safety hazards or other incidents immediately to the department manager.
- Always promote and ensure safe working practices across our sites.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring machines are in safe working condition.
- You will be committed to learn new skills, adapting to change, and staying current with advancements in machinery and production methods.
- Assist with other general duties as required.
About you:
- Success in this role will be viewed as the ability to demonstrate a professional approach to work, with excellent attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
- You can assist in the development and testing of new sewing techniques or products as part of a collaborative team.
- You will work well within a team setting and be able to communicate effectively.
- A key focus of this role is to ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies.
- You will have proven experience as a sewing machinist within a manufacturing environment, preferably using industrial sewing machines.
- You can demonstrate good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precision work, together with numerical accuracy.
- You can work to production schedules and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- You will contribute towards maintaining a safety-first culture.
- In addition, we are looking for someone who can work both independently and as part of a small team.
