CAD Engineer

Our client based in Radstock are looking for a CAD Engineer to join their team.

This role will involve:
*Working as an integral part of the manufacturing design team for fire rated product. Primarily providing manufacturing design support ensuring departmental objectives are obtained
*Producing and maintaining 2D CAD details for fire rated product designs, along with manufacturing drawings for internal use and for external designers specifying company products
*Undertaking design review – Thus revising and re-issuing drawings based on customer comments
*Compiling bill of materials and production routes from drawings produced to an agreed programme within an ERP system
*Managing engineering change requests using ERP and drawing control system
*Preparing requests for information, query sheets and monitor replies as required
*Monitoring own progress against contract programme and report progress on a regular basis
*Checking all elements of a project. Including drawing schedules, general arrangement drawings, working drawings and fabrication information
*Providing design and technical support for all other departments as required
*Ensuring that the highest levels of customer service and communication are provided to all customers, both internal and external, at all times.

Requirements:
*2D detail drawing using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD 9or similar)
*The ability to use Microsoft Office
*A knowledge of an ERP/MRP systems is an advantage
*Interpret customer specifications and produce robust design solutions
*Able to work independently without direct supervision
*Be organised and able to maintain a productive work flow
*Practical and hands on approach to working fast to tight deadlines on multiple projects
*Previous experience of working within any of the following industries will be of interest; General manufacturing, interiors, construction
*A broad knowledge of various manufacturing processes is required including metal fabrication, machined parts, and assembly techniques
*Preferably BTEC/ONC level, or higher, qualification in Mechanical Design or similar technical discipline
*To be willing to think through problems and initiate imaginative approaches to solutions
*The ability to understand and apply commercially sensible financial decisions
*The ability to communicate clearly and fluently, verbally and in writing.
