Description

Our client based in South Molton are seeking a HIAB Driver to join their team on an ad hoc basis.

If successful you must be available for the following dates:

  • Monday the 06th of April to Thursday the 10th of April 2020
  • Tuesday the 14th of April 2020 to Friday the 17th of April 2020
  • Monday the 15th of June 2020 to Friday the 19th of June 2020
  • Monday the 29th of June 2020 to Friday the 03rd of July 2020
  • Monday the 06th of July 2020 to Friday the 10th of July 2020
  • Monday the 13th of July 2020 and Tuesday the 14th of July 2020

 

Main purpose of role:

  • To maintain the highest possible level of customer service in order to maximise sales and margin
  • To deliver goods to customers efficiently, effectively and safely
  • To use and maintain vehicles in accordance with company and legal requirements
  • To actively seek and communicate orders and sales leads to internal and external sales staff

Main Duties:

Sales and Customer Service:

  • Serve customers politely and efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Accurately identify products when picking goods for later delivery
  • Load, or assist in the loading of, delivery vehicles, ensuring that all vehicles are properly and safely laden so as to minimise risk and damage
  • Ensure that all goods that are loaded for delivery are accompanied by the proper advice note or invoice
  • Deliver products professionally, promptly and without damage
  • Unload the products in compliance with customer requests ensuring that safe working practice is observed at all times
  • Ensure that the customer, or the customer’s authorised agent, acknowledges the receipt of the goods by signing the appropriate documentation
  • Follow the company procedure in the handling of all monies and payments in relation to COD’s and all other transactions
  • All goods that are to be collected from site must be accompanied by the proper paperwork. If that is not in your possession seek authorisation from Supervisor/Branch Manager. Ensure that all such goods are properly dealt with on return to branch
  • Deal with any customer complaints quickly and properly, seeking guidance from your Supervisor/Branch Manager where needed or appropriate
  • Remember you are a representative of the Company and demonstrate good customer service at all times. Ensure total customer satisfaction before leaving site
  • Be mindful of the cost of damaged goods and keep to an absolute minimum, ensuring that the Supervisor/Branch Manager is advised of any such breakage found
  • Minimise loss through the careful selection, handling, storage and stowage of goods
  • Make work a pleasure – support and appreciate your colleagues
  • Assist in keeping all sales and storage areas clean and tidy and merchandise stock where appropriate
  • Operate plant and machinery properly and as necessary once qualified to do so
  • Ensure that the vehicle you are using complies with all applicable legal and company requirements
  • Maintain a well presented and clean vehicle in order to promote the image of the company
  • Attend CPC training, where required as requested by the company

Health and Safety:

  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations and requirements to ensure the safety of yourself, colleagues and customers.
  • Report any incidents that have led or may lead to injury or damage to Supervisor or Branch Management.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents with the object of introducing measures to prevent recurrence
  • Use the appropriate protective equipment in order to meet statutory obligation or company requirement
  • Handle, move, load and unload products safely
  • Keep the premises clean and tidy
  • Carry out daily checks on vehicles/plant prior to operating and detail any faults found to the appropriate person using the proper documentation to do so
  • Communicate with Supervisor or Branch Management if asked to undertake any task that you do not feel confident you can achieve effectively and safely

General:

  • Develop product knowledge by attending supplier training roadshows and any in house product training.
  • Ensure customers receive prompt, efficient and polite service at all times
  • Promote the company image by maintaining an appropriate level of appearance relevant to your job
  • Adopt a flexible working approach and assist Management with any reasonable overtime requests
  • Attend and participate in all branch/departmental meetings
  • Fully co-operate with and support all rotational and period stocktaking
  • Ensure the safety of yourself, customers and colleagues by complying with Health and Safety requirements at all times
  • Assist with all aspects of branch security
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by Management to aid in the efficient and profitable trading of your branch

 

Requirements:

  • Appropriate driving licence
  • Lorry-loader (crane) certification
  • Counterbalance forklift certificate
  • Side-loader certificate
  • Any industry recognised training/certification
