To say that 2018 was an exciting and busy year for Simple Recruitment would be a vast understatement. This year has seen us experience massive short-term growth as both a business and as a team.
We spent the spring months – no doubt like every other business – busily preparing for the new GDPR legislation to come into effect and, never having been a company to do things by halves, we decided what better time than now to freshen up the team and welcome a new Business Development Executive to drive the business forward?? Welcome Paul. Paul joined us with an absolute abundance of enthusiasm, energy and determination which quickly saw us planning for our Bideford expansion!
After an exciting and admittedly hectic couple of months, the now 9 of us were seated around a large dining table, surrounded by curries, enjoying an evening of laughter and toasting to the succesful opening of our new branch and two new team members.
Within just 7 months, the Simple team was seen to be taking tremendous leaps and bounds toward becoming bigger and better – hitting record temp numbers. We had not only retained and nurtured our existing team members, recognising their talent and potential to progress within their roles, but due to organic growth and continued success, had also developed new roles in order to welcome new additions.
As we neared the end of the year, a noticeable influx of requirements for Accounts and Finance placements, both temporary and permanent, led to the introduction of a new Accountancy & Finance division to enable us to find and provide the best candidates in this sector for our clients. Having already built solid relationships with a lot of the clients and having shown great drive and capability since joining us in 2017, we decided our Commercial Consultant – Miriam, would be the best person to head up this division.
Christmas was now fast approaching and we decided to get involved with Samaritan’s Purse – Operation Christmas Child, a project which has been running every year since 1990, gifting unprivileged children around the world with present-filled Christmas shoeboxes, wrapped and packed by children and adults in the UK. We were absolutely overwhelmed by the response we received from so many generous companies and individuals who chose to get involved too – our original target of 100 shoeboxes was quickly exceeded and by the time our collection deadline rolled around in early November, our Midsomer Norton office was filled with an incredible total of 128 shoeboxes!
The busy period leading up to Christmas would see us welcome two further additions to the team – Michelle and Sinead. Michelle joined us at our Head Office as Industrial Key Accounts Consultant, bringing with her a wealth of experience in Recruitment and Client Management. Sinead then joined us in our Bideford Office as Branch Administrator, her excellent communication skills and attention to detail making her perfect for the responsibility of ensuring all administration is fully compliant at all times.
The Christmas period is always one of the busiest times of year for Recruitment, especially on the Industrial side, our Marketing Executive – Kelsey therefore proved essential in attracting the required volume and calibre of candidates to meet our client’s requirements. During this busy period, our Branch Administrator – Heather also proved vital in ensuring the accurate data entry of candidate details onto our internal IT systems and sending out all necessary emails and other forms of communications to both clients and candidates.
